Getting in

• Freetown International Airport, Lungi: Use a scheduled fast-boat operator across the estuary, not the road route. Sea Coach Express runs from near Mahera Hotel to Aberdeen Bridge; Sea Bird Express goes toward Murray Town, and Sovereign Ferries serves Government Wharf. The water crossing is roughly 20 minutes; published fast-boat prices vary sharply by operator, with the evidence citing about US$50 for many foreign visitors and NLe1,080 for Sea Coach. Choose the arrival pier closest to your hotel. The cheap Government ferry/bus route to Rawdon Street is a false economy: allow 3 hours or more, and delays can be much longer. The road via Port Loko is at least four hours.
