Glacier skiing and snow-sure high-altitude pistes, including limited summer skiing · The 3,456m Mittelallalin viewpoint and Metro Alpin, billed as the world’s highest underground railway · A panorama of 13 peaks above 4,000m, including the Mischabel massif and the Dom · Car-free lanes and well-preserved traditional Valais wood architecture
Saas-Fee is a high, compact, car-free Alpine resort village at 1,800m on a plateau above Saas-Grund, built around skiing, glacier access and serious walking rather than urban sightseeing. It is the Saas Valley’s biggest base, ringed by an exceptional concentration of 4,000m peaks and old dark-wood chalets. The trap is treating it as a cute village break: the village itself is small; the real destination is the lift-and-trail network across the Saas Valley, and weather can erase the headline mountain views completely.
